5 Favorite Canggu Cafes

Posted by on

If anyone knows me, they know I love my food! When I am in Bali I am in food heaven as everything is fresh, beautiful and delicious! I've received so many messages asking about my top recommendations for Cafes, that I decided to round up my top 5 favorites in Canggu. Enjoy!

1.Crate Cafe

Delicious breakfast, cheap prices and huge portions! Check, check, check! Crate Café is my go to place for breakfast in Canggu. It is located in the heart of town and the best place for good vibes, good coffee and good food. The restaurant is open and airy and the style is uber hipster. You will find most of the expats and surfers grabbing their usual breakfast here before heading out to hit the waves. The menu is full of incredible options but my go is the Green Breaky. It’s on the healthier side but my perfect meal consisting of quinoa, sautéed spinach, avocado and two over easy eggs. They have everything here though – French toast, bacon and eggs, smoothie bowls, etc. Their coffee is also some of the best in town! I generally go with the flat white with almond milk or the iced latte with almond milk (which is truly out of this world). This is a great option for meat lovers and vegetarians alike as there is something for everyone. They only serve breakfast (but are open until 5pm) so no matter what time you wake up you can head over for your favorite breaky! You can’t go wrong here and you will be tempted to come back every morning!

Location: Jalan Canggu Padang Linjong, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351, Indonesia

Price Point: All food on the menu is 55k ($4 USD) and coffee is around 30-40k ($2.50)

2. Peleton Supershop

If I’m not at Crate for breakfast, you can find me at Peloton. It is located on the other side of the shortcut of Canggu in Berawa and is known as the best vegan café in Bali. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner but in my opinion, their breakfast is the best.  My favorite item on the menu is the moonshine smoothie bowl. It is incredible, trust me! If I am in the mood for more of a savory dish, I usually go with the breakaway burrito or the hash stack. Their cappuccino with coconut milk is always the companion to my order. Pro tip – ask for the large size if you are a coffee lover like me (it’s not listed on the menu). The prices here are a bit more than Crate, but totally worth with!

Location: Jl. Pantai Berawa No.46, Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Price Point: Around 60-80k ($4-6) for food and 30-40k ($2-3) for coffee.

3. The Loft

Located on the main road in Canggu - called Batu Bolong, this is a great café to stop at on your way to the beach. The vibe is laid back with an open door set up so you can sit on the porch and watch people drive by on their motorbikes.  Instagram people love to come here to take photos in front of their wall that say “You'll see it when you believe it”.  The food here is really incredible and it’s a great place to come have a coffee and journal or work.

Location: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.50A, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Price Point: 50-80k for food ($3.50-6USD)

4. Shady Shack

I eat at least one meal at Shady Shack a day! Haha! They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and all three are INCREDIBLE! This is a vegetarian restaurant with a huge menu so everyone will be satisfied.  It is located in Canggu on your way to Echo Beach and the vibe is amazing. It is nestled in a bunch of trees and bushes (hence the name) making it the perfect place to come before or after the beach. I have most of my business meetings here because it’s a great place to just come and hang with a co-worker, friend or lover.  My favorite things on the menu are the Start Up Smoothie, Jackfruit tacos, Cauliflower steak, and the Pillow Talk (gnocchi)!

Location: Jl. Tanah Barak No.57, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351, Indonesia

Price Point: Varies but between 60k-100k ($4-7 USD)

5. Kynd Café/ Give Café

If you follow any Bali accounts you have probably seen the beautiful smoothie bowls with cute words in them like, Bali, Love, Be Kind, Etc.  The smoothie all come from Kynd Cafe and the bowls are not only beautiful, they are DELICIOUS! The best part is that these cafes are non-profits with a mission of spreading kindness and giving back.

Their original café, Kynd Café, is located in Seminyak and a small little shop that serves smoothie bowls and avocado toast.

Their newest café is located in Canggu and called Kynd Café. When you order, you are given a token to use to support one of the three charities that Give Cafe donates to. There are three options – giving to animals, people or the environment. I love that when I come here I get to enjoy a great meal AND give back in the process. The concept and mission behind these amazing cafes is truly incredible.

The Cafes' above are my favorites, however, there are two other recommendations I want to give you. If you are a smoothie bowl lover, then go grab a smoothie bowl from Nalu Bowls! They are a bit pricey compared to other places in Bali and just a little open shack on the side of the road BUT they do have some of the best smoothie bowls on the island!

Location: Jl. Batu Mejan No.88ACanggu80361 Indonesia.

Price Point: 70-90k ($5-7)

Lastly, my FAVORITE ice cream shop in Canggu is called Mad Pop's! It is vegan ice cream that is coconut milk based and it is incredible! My favorite flavor is mint chocolate chip in their "pimped out" cone. Go check this place out!
